opening scene
In this opening scene of the film "terminator 3" it shows the character, the genre and sets the rest of the story up through this opening scene. Also using sound, cinematography, edit and mise-en-scene to help show some of the aspects. the opening scene shows us the main character and gives a small amount of back story on him. we know he is the main character as he is in the shot the most and he is also the nurture of the opening scene. It also gives you a small sub-story to what the film is going to be about.
The sound in the scene tells us that the film s going to be back and forth with emotions as the tempo of the background noise and sound changes at different points in the scene and also the fact that in this opening it tells you about how his life has been filled with emotion due to problems he has had with machines trying to kill him and his mother. The mise en scene in the scene changes from present to future to show us what will happen in the film but there is a sense that the main character, john conner, is alone in thinking this as in the scenes he is on his own and there is no one around.
this is the opening scene to the film "I am legend". This is a good opening scene as it explains what has happened in the story and introduces the character. this opening tells us who the main character is and tells us small amount of information on him. it uses cinematography, edit, sound and mise-en-scene to show different things throughout the scene.
The cinematography in the scene is clearly trying to get the idea across that the word is empty and that the main character ,Robert Nevil, is alone and trying to survive. the sound also give this idea across as al the sound in the opening is echoed suggesting that nothing is there and that all around him is emptiness. the mise-en scene shows this as well because there is no one else in the scene apart from Robert Nevil and everything is over grown and damaged suggesting that it has been untreated for a long time.
