plimenery task

final film

script done by callum west
filming done by charlie hudson, callum west and nathan denny

filming and editing process

The first day of filming and editing was very productive. We got a real feel for how everything works on set and what we need to do to prepare. After the first day the rest of the filming process went rather smoothly as we was prepared for what we had to do.
For the rest of the filming process we shot each part at least twice at different camera angles to find the best shot for the scene.

Once we had done filming the scene, i then moved on to edit the different shots together to make it all flow. once we have edited it we save it all to my desktop.

Once we had edited all of our film i then edited every scene together to make up our film, as well as adding the music and title sequences prepared my Callum.

What have you learnt about the technologies form the process of constructing this product?

(this post was done by nathan denny as we had split up the evaluation questions)

In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

(this question was answered by nathan denny as we split up the evaluation questions)

How did you attract/ address your target audience

How did you attract/ address your target audience.

I feel that we have attracted and addressed our target audience in many different ways. Some of them include the types of shots that we have used in our film as they relate to other films that our audiences would be into. Also, through the way our film is set out, with it starting in the future then going back to the past (non-liner story line).

story board

This is the story board for our film. It outlines the basic plot of our film and allows you to know what will be happening in our film. this, along with other things such as 25 word pitch, could be put up on 'Kick start' so that people can see what to expect from our film and see if it would be something that they would be interested in and if so, they would be able to help fund it so that Eagle Eye can produce the film.

Who is your main target audience for your product?

Who is your main target audience for your product?

The main target audience of out film would be 25 years old and over, both male and female due to the conflicts in the film.however, it is for more of a mature person due to our non-liner story line and the complex story.

film company

This is our company logo that we have made called Eagle Eye. it is an independent film company that takes its funding from 'kick start' (this is a way to raise money for films that you are making from the money that audiences give you if they like the concept, trailer or idea for your film).

the upcoming film 'Eagle Eye' is producing is called 'Omnishambles'. it is about a word that had been destroyed due to crossed lovers and a science experiment gone wrong. yet one man wont let go and try s to change what has happened to the life that he used to live.

props

the props for our film mainly consist of clothing that we use in the film. some of the clothing includes a suit and lab coats (depending on what the scene includes).

Also in our film we use science equipment (for the lab scene) and an old rusted radio for the first scene.

audience research

This is a question air that we did to find out what sort of films people like. We asked  110 people and our results are shown in the chart.

As you can see mystery, comedy and drama scored the best results out of the question air. out of these 3 mystery scored the best of who our target audience is. This was a good find for us as our film is mainly a mystery/drama genre which means we are on track for hitting our target audiences.

music

Kevin Mcleod is a musician that makes copyright free music and post them on you tube because it was copyright free it was an obvious choice to use some of his music in our film.

This is an example of some of his music:

film script

Script
Scene 1 setup
The room is a large office. The table is round. There are two chairs. The lighting is bright. Both characters are seated. There is little to no background noise.

Morgan: so will you be continuing your relationship with Mrs. Natalie?

The camera then zooms in close to Leo’s eye and a tunnel effect transition plays displaying that we are in fact going deep into the inner most thoughts of Leo.

Scene 2 setup:
The scene displays a large empty wasteland. The air is damp. Rubble is littered all over. There are large mounds of mud. A radio is playing. A can is lying on the floor.

Morgan: (walks over to radio and turns it off) (turns as if addressing the can) The world that we knew, we believed it so secure, so concrete. Little did we know that life is far more fragile than any of us could ever have conceived… I remember how it all began.

Scene 3 setup: a girl is seated in a coffee shop. The lighting is bright and welcoming. There are few other customers. The background noise is quite.

Natalie: (walks in door) (bends over and kisses Jade) (sits down and looks at Jade romantically)
Jade: I’m so glad we finally managed to meet up I’ve just been so swamped at work recently I hardly ever get to see you even when we’re at home
Natalie: (disgruntled but not overtly annoyed) Yeah maybe you should take some time off so we can spend a bit more time together.
Jade: I would love to but we’re so close! I mean like a couple of weeks and the cure will be finalized… Forever!
Natalie: I know that but maybe just a day or two off?
Jade: I’ll see…
(Jade’s phone rings)
Jade: right now?
Jade: I’ll see what I can do.
Jade: I’m really sorry, I have to go (genuinely sympathetic) I’ll make it up to you as soon as possible I promise. (Gets up kisses Natalie and leaves)
(Leo bumps Natalie on her way out and comes in to sit next to Natalie)
Leo: Is it ok if I sit here?

Scene 4 setup: The camera is focused on a table. The table has a few scratches and looks well used. Then super imposed images of newspapers about Jade’s upcoming success start traveling across the screen. As each image travels past a newspaper is added to a pile on the table.

Scene 5 set up: Jade and Natalie are in a park. They are walking together hand in hand. There is a bright natural light. Bird song can be heard in the background. The sounds of children playing can also be heard.

Jade: (gets down on one knee) I know we haven’t been on best terms recently what with me being so busy and you taking writing lessons but… well… I was wondering… (looks up smiling) will you marry me? (close up of Natalies shock ridden face)
Natalie: I can’t… I just can’t
(Natalie runs of crying)

Scene 6 setup: The room is a large lab with several tables. There are two other scientists in the background. There is an array of scientific books and equipment scattered around the room. The lighting is dark.

Jade: (working with chemicals)
Morgan: I just came in to let you know that I am very pleased with your progress
Jade: Thank you sir.
Morgan: (exits)
Natalie: (goes over to the window) (camera shows Leo and Natalie together laughing and enjoying themselves) (walks back over to chemicals furious)
Jade: I’m ready to begin the process
Assistant (hands over chemicals)
Jade: (pours in chemicals) I can’t do this (runs out jogging the assistant) (camera shows the concoction fizzing)

The End

(written by Callum west)

Even though we had a script, you can still notice some deviation to this and the actual film. This is because when it came to shooting and editing the film, there where some parts that didn't fit, therefore we had to change bits to make it fit.

shooting schedule

To make sure that we did not fall behind whilst filming our film, we made a filming schedule to follow. It shows who is in the scene, what scene we are filming and where the film is being shot.

locations

We used many different locations in the shooting of our film. Some of them included Petts Wood FC's football ground, Mr. Weaver's science lab at our school and a cafe called "Krusty corner". We had permission to film on all the sites that we used and we will mention them in the final film so that they get recognition for there help in producing the film.

character profile - Callum West

One of the characters in our film is a male called Leo Hardwin. This is one of the main characters in the film as he is the second person in the fight for the love of a womenThis is the man who ,in the end, steals the girl from another girl , who just so happens to be the fiancee of his best friend Jade Wilson, which then causes everything to fall apart and sets in motion a series of events that destroy life as we know it. However in the film he is just a man who is fighting with his emotions.

For this role we need someone who is able to portray his emotions on camera and really be able to engage with his character so that it makes it look more believable. For this role we have decided to to cast Callum West. He is apart of the crew already as he is the stage director and and in charge of site management, as well as being one of the creators of the story. This means that he will play the role well as he knows and understands the story and characters in the film. Also he has done a 2 month drama course as well as a leading role in a short film 'God save the Queen'. This is good as it means has he knows how to play to the role in a short film and will be able to adapt to his character well.

back story and meeting the characters

Our film is about a group of friends (two females and one male) ,  two of them are scientists with the job of finding a cure for deceases whilst the other girl is a secretary for there boss. two of them have got engaged (the two girls). However, one of the friends(the male) steals the fiancé from the other and she is filled with jealousy and anger. Due to her rage she mixes two serums together, whilst in the lab, which spreads a virus throughout humanity. With just a select thew sill alive due to there rare blood type, it is up to them to fix the word in the only way they see how, to kill the male in the past before he meets the two girls and gets the opportunity to split them up.

The male scientist is a man called Leo Hardwin. He is a down to earth character yet he does have a secret side to him. However, in his own mind he in innocent and believes that what ever happens, no matter what, is fate.

The female scientist that cheats on her fiance is called Natalie Richardson. She cheats on her because she is confused about her sexuality and feels that she is living a lie. However, due to her being a kind and caring character she does not want to hurt anyone so she keeps it all a secret, but buy telling these lies it creates conflict in story which blows up in all of their faces.

The other female character is called Jade Wilson. She is a focused character who's life revolves around her profession, which could be one of the reasons why her fiancee has left her. On the outside it seems like nothing effects her yet on the inside all her feelings are being held in until an event, like being cheated on, gives her the opportunity to release all of her feelings which could have bad outcomes.

Another character is the C.E.O of the large corporation known as Gene Co, Morgan Phoenix. He is a successful man with lots of money and power. He is a bit of a gambler with his positive attitude and his 'grab the bull by the horns' personality towards everything. However, this is before the apocalypse. After the apocalypse he is a more quite with a more hidden personality. also, due to him being one of the thew survivors he is more imaginative and therefor made a different reality in his mind as a coping process.

Name and Creators

Our film is called Omnishambles. Its a dramatic thriller with a non linear story line. The creators of this film idea are Charlie Hudson (me), Nathan Denny and Callum West. Collectively we have created and moulded an idea into the film that we will be creating. Also, together we make up our production team. I will have the role of camera man, in charge of lighting and casting. Nathan Denny is our props organizer and main editor. Callum West is organizing the stage management and site locator. We are all overseeing the film as directors and all have an equal say in what happens for the good of the film.

extras

For our film we need extras so that we can control the atmosphere and the way life would work around our main characters. For this we have enrolled a series of people, some with a qualification in acting and some without. Yet all are capable of what we need them to do. Some of the people we have got to play extras are; Olivia Courtney, Jack Smith, Elizabeth Harrison, Thomas Cheeseman, Abigail Maddison and many others. Also, we need them because when we are filming on sites ,such as the coffee shop, it will be closed for customers. Therefor it means we will need to set the scene and make it look realistic.

character profile: Naomi Cunningham

Another character in our film is a women called Natalie Richardson. She is the person who is seeing Leo Hardwin behind the back of her fiancee, Jade Wilson. She, as a result, is one of the main factors for the events that occur which led to the apocalypse. Her character is more free than the others as she is looking for happiness which causes her to go behind her fiancees back to find it because she feels trapped with her, yet she doesn't want to hurt her former lover so she keeps her feelings for Leo Hardwin a secret.
The actor who we need for this part will have to be able to be in-tuned with there emotions and be able to portray them, which will allow the audience to see what she is feeling at any given point of time during the film. Because of this, i felt that we would need someone with past acting experience, therefor we got Naomi Margaret Cunningham. She has qualifications in GCSE and A-level drama and she is an experienced actor with her performances in theatre productions such as 'Oliver', 'Bugsy Malone', 'Grease' and many more. Due to the fact that she has played a vast amount of roles, it is a good choice to have her play the role of 'Natalie Richardson' as the role demands a high level of acting which Naomi would be able to give.

character profile: Sarah Wright

One of the other characters in our film is the fiancee of Natalie Richardson, Jade Wilson. She is the main scientist in a big corporation called Gene co., which run by Nathan Denny character 'Morgan Phoenix'. Jade Wilson has access to all the facilities in the corporation which means it is the perfect position to cause a word wide pandemic if he was to be made angry or vengeful.

The actor who plays this should be able to show her anger when she is cheated on by the character Natalie Richardson. However she should also have the look of a scientist as well as sound like the sort of person who would be a scientist. Therefor we have chosen Sarah Wright  as our actor. She has the look of a girl who is smart and has a good speaking voice which will go well with her character. Also, she has a qualification in the Arts with a GCSE. This means she will be able to contribute to the artistic side of the film and help with props and set design.

character profile: Nathan Denny

One of the characters in our film 'Omnishambles' is a man who has survived the apocalypse, called 'Morgan Phoenix'. He is made out to be a man who was successful before the apocalypse happened, we do this by saying he ran a large corporation called Gene Co.,  yet loses everything after the apocalypse, this is to show how much this person has lost as he was a successful man but now he is forced to sleep outside in the ruins of  the London streets. This character then carries on to be the main narrator of the film. At the beginning he is a vibrant character with confidence with a very loud personality. However this changes after the apocalypse as he turns in to a quite and solitude character who starts to brake down as you see in the film.

Because of the role the actor would have to play we need someone with some acting background to deal with the dramatic change in characteristics of the character. also, they need to have a good speaking voice to fit the role of the narrator. Therefor the for this role in our film is Nathan Stephen Denny. He is a qualified actor with a Drama GCSE. He has been in many performances, such as 'The Island', 'Shot at Dawn' and 'Art'. He is good at  improvisation which means that ,if he needs to, he can bend the script to fit the role he is playing. This is why we chose him as he has a strong attitude to committing to his role. This is why he will be good  for the role of the survivor. Also, he will then become the main narrator throughout the film whilst staying in the character of the survivor. We thought he would be good for this role as he has a good speaking voice which makes him suitable for the role narrator and it also gives him the opportunity to develop his role as the survivor.

25 word pitch

This is my 25 word pitch. to do my 25 word pitch i thought it would be a good idea to turn it into a shot trailer for the film with pictures that further explain what is being said about the film. Also, the music in the trailer gives across the atmosphere of the film and lets the audience know what they are in for when they go to watch our film.

Mood Board

This is my mood board. I have chosen these images because they all give me inspiration for the film i will be making. For example, the images of the people alone surrounded by destruction and nothingness is what i want from the film that i will be making because the idea of emptiness and the fact that the person is alone is something that goes with the story line that i have.
Also, the images of fire and the sea are there because it shows this wild force that is untamed and uncontrollable, yet we still try to control it (for example in the sea image it shows the uncontrollable element yet there is a boat which shows that we as humans are trying to control it). This is what i want from my film, the sense that something uncontrollable has happened but people are still pushing through it and surviving.

Influences

This is my influential page. I have chosen these images because they give my ideas and a direction for the film that i will be making. All the images here relate to some of the ideas that i have for the film that i will be making. For example, the images of buildings being abandoned and destroyed are what i want my film to be like as an apocalyptic wasteland, which is what the images show. Also with the images of fire and the men it promotes the idea of survival which is what you see at the start of the film that i will be making.

opening scene

In this opening scene of the film "terminator 3" it shows the character, the genre and sets the rest of the story up through this opening scene. Also using sound, cinematography, edit and mise-en-scene to help show some of the aspects. the opening scene shows us the main character and gives a small amount of back story on him. we know he is the main character as he is in the shot the most and he is also the nurture of the opening scene. It also gives you a small sub-story to what the film is going to be about.
The sound in the scene tells us that the film s going to be back and forth with emotions as the tempo of the background noise and sound changes at different points in the scene and also the fact that in this opening it tells you about how his life has been filled with emotion due to problems he has had with machines trying to kill him and his mother. The mise en scene in the scene changes from present to future to show us what will happen in the film but there is a sense that the main character, john conner, is alone in thinking this as in the scenes he is on his own and there is no one around.

this is the opening scene to the film "I am legend". This is a good opening scene as it explains what has happened in the story and introduces the character. this opening tells us who the main character is and tells us  small amount of information on him. it uses cinematography, edit, sound and mise-en-scene to show different things throughout the scene.
The cinematography in the scene is clearly trying to get the idea across that the word is empty and that the main character ,Robert Nevil, is alone and trying to survive. the sound also give this idea across as al the sound in the opening is echoed suggesting that nothing is there and that all around him is emptiness. the mise-en scene shows this as well because there is no one else in the scene apart from Robert Nevil and everything is over grown and damaged suggesting that it has been untreated for a long time.
